Verified Badge Policy

A blue Verified badge on iwantam means we have confirmed that the account belongs to a real person whose name matches official records, and that the person was present when they verified. It does not mean iwantam guarantees their goods, prices or conduct. Always check ratings and completed deals too.

1. Verification levels

In Nigeria the government ID check uses your NIN. Outside Nigeria we use the national ID, passport or driver's licence that our verification provider supports in your country, checked against official records where available, plus the same live selfie match.

2. How it works

  1. You choose to get verified and agree to the checks, including consent for us and our verification provider to process your ID details and a live selfie.
  2. You pay the verification fee through Flutterwave.
  3. You enter your ID details, take a live selfie, and for businesses enter your company registration number.
  4. Our provider checks the details against official records. Most checks finish within minutes. Some go to manual review, which can take up to 2 working days.
  5. If everything matches, the badge appears on your profile, offers, bills and messages.

3. Fees and refunds

The fee covers the cost of the checks and our review. If verification fails because of a technical problem on our side, we retry at no cost or refund you in full. If it fails because the details do not match, the fee is not refunded, and you can try again once at no extra cost within 30 days.

4. Keeping the badge

Your badge stays active for 12 months. We may ask you to verify again earlier if you change your name, bank details or shop owner.

We may suspend a badge while we investigate, and remove it permanently, if:

  1. two or more fraud or non delivery complaints against you are upheld,
  2. we find false or borrowed identity information,
  3. your bank account name no longer matches your verified name,
  4. you break the Terms and Conditions in a serious way.

If your badge is removed you will be told why and can appeal to support@iwantam.com within 14 days. Fees are not refunded when a badge is removed for misconduct.

5. What the badge does not promise

The badge is a strong trust signal, not an insurance policy. iwantam does not handle payments between users and is not responsible for losses from a transaction with a verified user, except where consumer protection law says otherwise.
